Military Speedhook™

Military SpeedhookMilitary Speedhook

This is one of many great products from Survival Resources (and we will feature more ongoing). We carry the Military Speedhook in our B.O.B. as it provides a complete solution for fishing with a spring-loaded action that automatically sets the hook when it springs open. The kit is complete with dehydrated bait along with fishing line, one hook and instructions. We recommend buying a few and also including some extras hooks with each kit. This is the U. S. Military Version of the Speedhook™ and is currently included in the Cold Weather Survival Kits of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, Army Reserves and others. Be aware that this device is so effective it is outlawed in some areas, so check your local regulations before using now.

Semi Auto Battle Rifle for Deer ?

Hunting with a semi-auto is NOT legal in our state but this is good info and perspective.

MBR News Excerpt:

I have a .308 battle rifle, semi-auto. Mine happens to be a Springfield M1A, but my question would apply to dozens of similar .308 or 7.62 x 51mm semi-auto military type rifles that use detachable mags.

Since these things don’t “look like” a traditional hunting rifle, even though they are unquestionably effective for that purpose (let’s assume you use .308 soft-point ammo and limit your shots to 300 yards or less, where you can reliably keep a 10″ group centered over your bullseye)…

… will some people object to you bringing one to hunt deer?

Spring Body Trap

Spring Body TrapSpring Body Trap

In a TEOTWAWKI situation, small game will be an excellent source of protein. And trapping may often be more effective than hunting with firearms (you can set and leave traps while firearms attract attention). These spring body traps are a great value at about $3.50 each including shipping costs. Each trap is 4.5″ x 4.5″ and sized for mink, muskrat and weasels but will also be effective with beavers and squirrels too, likely the most common small animal. The trap will quickly dispatch an animal such that they are accepted by many state and federal wildlife agencies. “Squirrel” away a few now as this would also make an excellent charity and barter item.

Available from Amazon for $18.50 plus shipping for six (6) traps

Meggers On eBayMeggers

We just got turned out to meggers from this post on SHTF411.com. You can find some more information here too including how to fish with a megger. THIS IS LIKELY NOT LEGAL IN YOUR (ANY) LOCALE BUT STILL WORTH KNOWING. You can also find videos on YouTube explaining their function. More on the company via Wikipedia too. For the DIY types, here is a site with more information and magnetos for sale. And even eHow.com has an article on “eletrofishing” with instructions of sorts.

For $60 or so on eBay it seems worth having one or two!
